about me

Personal Description: From childhood I have been enthusiastic about languages and history.

I have studied Latin and Ancient Greek in addition to French and Italian and have worked and studied in France.. Just for fun, I am brushing up on my Welsh; a language I spoke as a child, and my father's first language.

Teaching Experience: I am a Qualified Teacher with over 30 years of experience teaching in schools and private tutoring, both in the UK and France.

I have worked with students of all ages from Year 3 to adults. I have been teaching online using Skype for 10 years now and have had students from around the world, including Hong Kong, India and Thailand. For recent student's comments, please take a look at my comments page. The majority of my students are working towards exams, both GCSE and A Level Latin, in addition to Common Entrance. A number however are also learning Latin for pleasure. Current research shows the great benefit of studying Latin. My experience includes working with students of all abilities; in particular I have worked for a number of years with students with dyslexia.

Tutoring Approach: I believe that through one to one tuition a student can gain in confidence and therefore begin to achieve their full potential. All too often students fail simply because of a lack of confidence in their own ability. With this in mind I tutor with a positive, friendly and encouraging approach. My lessons are creative and flexible and I use a variety of teaching methodologies designed with each individual student in mind.
